The John A. Wilkinson Room serves as the collection site for Mr. Wilkinson's documents and books and various collections of histories generously donated by the families of the City of Washington, Beaufort County, and surrounding communities. Many of those extensive resources are dedicated to genealogical research. Resources include microfilm of local Washington newspapers dating back to the 19th century. Other forms of resources include but are not limited to; court and other records, county abstracts, as well as an indexed obituary and cemetery records. Our facility offers patrons access to rare and local artifacts, books, and papers from Washington natives, including Washington's own George H. Brown, the judge for whom the library is named.
